Premed, anesthesiology | Emory College ’28
Calvin is a sophomore at Emory University on the pre-med track with a focus on anesthesiology. Hailing from New York, Calvin developed a keen interest in medical research and clinical applications early on. This interest was sparked during high school when he completed a poster presentation that simulated the spread of COVID-19 using the SEIR model, an experience that deepened his fascination with modeling biological processes and their real-world impacts.
At Emory, Calvin is pursuing his passion for regenerative medicine under the mentorship of Winston. His current research focuses on the clinical applications of stem cells, specifically in the context of direct cell reprogramming. Calvin is particularly interested in how reprogramming fibroblasts can promote recovery following tissue damage. By using research techniques honed in the Yoon Lab, he is gaining hands-on experience in cell reprogramming with the goal of translating these findings to patient care settings.
Ultimately, Calvin is motivated by the desire to improve patient recovery outcomes in clinical settings. His research aims to enhance the dynamics of care to foster better recovery processes for patients who have experienced tissue damage. Through his work, Calvin hopes to make meaningful contributions to the field of regenerative medicine and to the development of innovative therapeutic approaches that can be applied in healthcare.
